Russia’s threat to cut gas supplies to Europe becomes US’ biggest fear
Russia has announced further cuts to Europe’s gas supply, as countries grapple with what could be a winter of severe shortages.
On Tuesday, Russian state-owned multinational energy corporation Razprom announced it would be further reducing their energy supplies to Germany’s Nord Stream 1 pipeline from 40 per cent of its normal capacity down to just 20 per cent.
The move was done in retaliation against sanctions placed on Russia by Western powers, in response to the invasion of Ukraine.
